This is a brief introduction to ABB (previously known as Bailey) BRC400 controller board anatomy. I hope it helps.

The image below shows where the Controlway IC chip is on the board. You will need some special cable with alligator clip to upload the Control Way firmware. The procedure to upload the Controlway firmware is out of scope of this article. If you have the controller in redundancy, the Control Way firmware can be upgraded without bringing both the controllers down.

The image below highlights where the CPU firmware resides and the DB9 comm port that can be used to upload the firmware. When uploading the CPU firmware, you will require to bring down both controller (if you have them in redundancy)

The last image here highlights where the battery of the controller is. The battery is used maintain CPU real-time clock, maintain NVRAM data and so on. The battery last anywhere from 8 to 10 year. It is recommended that the battery should be replaced as part of preventative maintenance program along with firmware revisions.
