The Barnett ProTalk voice file requirements are very specific and has to be met so that you can upload it to the ProTalk Link.
The Voice Editor accepts .wav file as an audio file. A .wav files are more commonly used by Windows-based computers and can contain either compressed audio or uncompressed audio. However, the .wav file has to be of specific format and they are as listed below.
- PCM format. A PCM file is used for uncompressed audio only, in its raw form.
- Mono format. The .wav file being played on the telephone system, a mono file format is required as the phone system is generally a single speaker system.
- Sample rate of 8000 per seconds (Hz).
If your .wav file is not setup as a PCM format while uploading to the Voice Editor, you will get an error message of “The format is not PCM”. See screenshot below.
If your .wav file is not setup with a sample rate of 8000 per second (Hz) while uploading to the Voice Editor, you will get an error message of “The sample rate is XXXXX, it should be 8000 per second!”. See screenshot below.
If your .wav file is not setup as a mono format while uploading to the Voice Editor, you will get an error message of “The file is in stereo format – should be mono!”. See screenshot below.
