Let me demonstrate the problems and pitfall of incompatible license for Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Control Expert engineering software… you need to be aware of it as lots of the engineering firms overlook this aspects of the EcoStruxure Control Expert.
Say for example, I was doing a work for a project and I did all my work in Version 14 of the Schneider-Electric EcoStruxure Control Expert, and later in the year Schneider Electric decided to release revision 15 of the Schneider-Electric EcoStruxure Control Expert. The client wanted the latest and the greatest EcoStruxure Control Expert in their new engineering workstation; so I installed revision 15 on their machine and had converted the PLC program to revision 15. Now I cannot open the EcoStruxure Control Expert PLC program as my laptop has revision 14. The Schneider Electric Technical Support team had told me that I will have to buy another license copy for revision 15!!?!?!? In a nutshell, even if you have revision 14, in order to run revision 15 of the software, you will have to buy another license for it. I’d say that is bad licensing design.
Just be warned!
