How do you copy setpoints from DCS Controller to your Control Engineering (aka Composer).
This is a step you must… i mean really MUST do before you upload your changes to the ABB DCS.
Right-click on the controller (primary controller)

Put a check on the “Update Specs” then click on “Next” button

Click on “Finish” button.

Click on “Ok” to start downloading the setpoints and comparing the difference.

You will be presented with the progress bar.

Once it is done the, difference between what you have in your workstation computer will be shown. Also, all the setpoints from the DCS is downloaded to your workstation, so when you upload the new logic the next time to the same controller, the currently download setpoints will also be uploaded to the controller. Hence preventing the process from being upset.

I tthat helps.
Note:
Running this Verify tool after you make changes to the logic does not result in lost of logic. However, you will be flagged that the logic that is in the workstation is not in the DCS controller.
This variance identification can be used to our advantage as newly assigned block number will be flagged as it cannot be found in the target DCS controller. Hence, indicating that you have assigned conflicting block number to your function blocks.
