Unfortuantely, WinSCP will opens every text file in his own text editor. However, you will miss the convenience of a good text editor like Notepad++, Sublime Text, and Visual Studio if you want to modify script files like PHP scripts, which is what I want to do the majority of the time. But fear not, there is a fix for this issue as well, saving you from having to give up your favourite features like syntax highlighting and autocomplete. In the sentences that follow, I’ll explain how to link WinSCP to the editor of your choosing. We’ll pretend that Sublime Text Editor is our preferred text editor for the purposes of this article, and demonstrate how you can setup the WinSCP to opn text file using Sublime. Same steps can be used to associated Notepad++ if Notepad++ is your favourite text editor.
